Education: University at Albany B.S. Business Administration Marketing & Management Major Philosophy Minor

Summary: Possessing over a decade of experience working on events, Owen has developed the insight into what separates a great experience from an unforgettable one. He is an expert in operations and understands the details needed in producing flawless events. Having worked as both a contractor in the industry and as a director for one of the world’s largest endurance sport producers, the New York Road Runners, he knows how to deliver complex large-scale events and bring out the best in the teams that make them happen.

In following his running aspirations while pursuing a marketing & management degree at SUNY Albany, Owen discovered another side to the sport he loved. Since his first event worked with Albany Running Exchange Event Productions he was hooked on the thrill and accomplishment of solving problems behind the scenes.

Traveling the country working with the production crews for triathlons, road races, and experiential events eventually brought him to the 2017 TCS NYC Marathon as a split timer a part of the timing technologies operation. Within a year he would be full-time at NYRR as a manager a part of that very same operation and in 2019 overseeing a team of 70 contract timers, 45 timing locations, and 100 IT systems recording +53,500 finishers; the largest of its kind among any road race in existence. As a timer and technical producer Owen has been responsible for producing accurate race results for record setting events and national championships.

As an event director Owen has produced several of NYRR’s annual events and been responsible for managing all of its stakeholders and operations, including vendors, city agencies, contracts, sponsorship obligations, and budgeting (+250K). Owen managed a day-to-day team of two direct reports and led several projects on improving the standard operating procedures, increasing efficiency, developing policies, and data driven decision making for New York Road Runner’s entire event portfolio.

The production of live events has always been the driving force in his career but having additionally worked for commercial brands has given him the knowledge on how to create the perfect confluence of brand and experience. Through working as a contractor on experiential activations and as a full-time employee for lululemon Owen knows how to maximize the desired brand impression and convert experiences to bottom line. A strategic thinker and business-oriented person, Owen created a portfolio of grass roots marketing initiatives for lululemon a part of their goal to grow market share in the men’s and running segments.

Confident in his ability to ideate, plan, and execute, all of this experience is currently being utilized as an event consultant in supporting local NYC running events and working a part of the operations teams for world renowned marathon majors.
